Happy Golden 30th Birthday Sarah!

Category: Portraits | March 6th, 2017

What could be better than celebrating a special birthday? When I told Sarah my plan for a fun smash the cake type photo shoot she jumped on board. I sent her a few of my ideas and we even included her cute dog Gadget -who I met at her engagement session. (I love this dog!) A big thanks to her friends who helped with makeup and hair and as well as testing the light, holding the reflector, calling the dog and zipping up her shoes backwards and upside down- shew I put these girls to work! But we had snacks and wine so it was so much fun! Sarah I hope you enjoy these sneak peek photos!

It was so great to get to know these two as a couple. This was the first time I was able to meet Dan. I loved that the couple was wiling to hike to some of my favorite spots for photos. The natural wooden bridge, an old overgrown boardwalk next to little pond and a tree with incredible roots – they were the perfect natural background for their photos. We chased the soft golden hour lighting and it made the perfect natural hair light. (And also separated them from their backgrounds if you want to get technical – ha) Thanks Gretchen and Dan for exploring with me and making your session so much fun!

During the ceremony the bride’s aunt brought up that Tracy’s nickname was the Grecian Goddess. I love all of the little Greek touches throughout the wedding day. The ivy and olive leaves, the mini olive oil jar favors and to the surprise of the couple – receiving a dowry of golden (chocolate) coins. It was so fun to see everything come together. The Oscar Event Center looked incredible with the blue and white colors. And the dessert table with treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes was too cute. The wedding celebration continued with lots of great dancing. One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing the couple so happy after being pronounced husband and wife! And I loved seeing them enjoying their first dance together. Congratulations Tracy and Andrew, we are so happy for you two! Thank you for inviting us to document your celebration.

There is something so special about a wedding day. Seeing so many little details come together for a big celebration – it is pretty magical. Cute bridesmaids, check – killer stained glass and vintage venues – check and mark. When I saw Ellen in her dress with a big tulle skirt and her hair pinned up in a bun – she looked like a ballerina bride. Reading her sweet long note from her groom it was hard for her to fight back the tears. When we headed to the park I could tell Steven was excited to see her for the first time. The couple picked a more secluded area of Eden Park. And I have to warn you – I loved their bridal party – they were so much fun! From their funky socks to their sassy posing – they kept us smiling all day! Their beautiful ceremony was at St. Xavier church with their Pastor Patrick Fairbanks. After a few family photos we headed to The Bell Event Centre. I loved the up-lighting colors, the gold candelabras and the tall cake – so romantic. Seeing the couple dance their first dance I overheard a guest saying they looked like a prince and princess in a fairy-tale with her skirt floating above the wooden dance floor. And the reception dancing – let’s just say everyone had a great time letting loose! Ellen and Steven thank you for inviting us to document your incredible day. We hope you will enjoy your sneak peek!

Driving up the long stately drive to the Crosley estate was followed by goosebumps. With the sounds of the old-time music that matched the vintage Model-A family car – I just knew it was going to be an incredible day. Every little detail throughout the celebration was carefully planned. One of my favorite moments was watching the couple plant a tree during their ceremony. Even the sun peeked out from behind the clouds to back light the couple. After the ceremony we had fun photographing the couple at our favorite locations around the gorgeous grounds. The first dance under the fabric and chandeliers – was text book story-tale! Although it was a little too wet for the ceremony to be in the orchard we saved that favorite for the golden hour lighting – it was perfect! Once the dance floor opened it was packed We especially loved when the guys decided to bring in a little country with the song Wagon Wheel! Congrats Kate and Steven – we wish you two all the very best and are so thankful that you asked us to document your wonderful day. Also a big thanks to all of their family, friends and super talented wedding professionals.
