Portrait Location Selection

Category: Portraits | September 25th, 2016

pottingerphotocincinnatiportraitphotographersevenmonths-00Choosing a great location is one of the most important pieces of setting your family’s photo shoot. The backdrop you select will set the stage for the entire session and will be an essential piece of every photo, pose and, ultimately, the finished product. We recommend picking a spot that’s special to you, either a spot you love, somewhere you frequent or a place that best represents your family.

After you’ve narrowed down the list, it’s important to think about some key logistics: are there restrooms? Is the distance from the parking to the actual shoot location far? If so, pack comfy shoes for everyone! Will there be places to change outfits, retouch hair and makeup and relax between shots? Will there be crowds nearby—and, if so, are you comfortable shooting in front of others?

We’ve seen amazing sessions everywhere from backyards to baseball fields, lakes to open meadows. We know the area and can help make recommendations based on your family’s unique needs, personalities and inspirations.

We love being featured on the international Wedding Lovely blog! Be sure to check out our fun fall inspirational photo session at the beautiful Richwood on the River.

newborncincinnati-00This little family is just adorable and I am so glad they invited to me to photograph their newest addition. Sister isn’t quite sure what to think! Sweet little Grace is just ready to be held and loved on and slept most of the session. Congrats Jo on your newest addition!

Paige’s Senior Session in Hope, Indiana

Category: Portraits | September 23rd, 2016

It is always so fun to see how seniors come alive in front of the camera. They are on the pulse of what is happening in the world and have so much ahead of them. For Paige’s senior session we had fun exploring the little town of Hope, Indiana. (I love being inspired by new locations!) She also had to put up with some giant bugs on the golf course. At the end of her session I loved including her family’s lavender farm in the photos. And who doesn’t love a big victorian couch next to a corn field? Paige you have the most gorgeous eyes and I can’t wait to to see what you will accomplish after graduation!
